Brooklyn Story by Suzanne Corso

I picked this up at a closing Borders for 50% off. I saw someone reading it on the subway and the title intrigued me since I grew up in Brooklyn.

The writing in some spots felt jumpy and didn’t quite flow but most of the book was well done. I felt like I could see the places clearly in my mind. The characters might come off as stereotypical but they really were true to life depictions of the the Brooklyn Mobster types in the late 70’s early 80’s. I also liked how she wrote in a Brooklyn accent.

The story of Samantha and her desire to escape and break the cycle of abuse all around her was one I could all to well relate to.
