Read this for Women’s Lit. Unlike the last play, which I hated (Top
Girls) I really enjoyed this. The story was well done, the play was easy
to read/follow. I was moved by Bennie’s desire to be educated and find
her place in the world. I was moved by Walter and Ruth and the struggle
to love each other even though things were so hard at the moment. And
Mama as a rock of love and wisdom was wonderful. I plan on seeing the
film versions as soon as I can.
