Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen

I’m not sure what I expected, I was a little worried that all the hype I’d heard over this would make me expect to much and so I’d not like this one.

But it was even more than I expected.
Set both in the present and in the world of the traveling circus of the 1930’s Water For Elephants is the story of Jacob Jankowski. Jacob is sweet and charming and honest. Not really what the circus men of the day were. His story is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

Yes there is an elephant in the story but no it’s not about elephants. It’s about the human spirit and love and living life even when it’s difficult and painful.
