During WWII the German forces occupied the channel islands between
England and France. This story takes place after the war and is told in
the form of letters and revolves around what the Islanders went through
during the time the Germans were there.
There is sadness, hardship, people sent to the camps and death. But
at the same time this book is uplifting, charming, and the characters
are timeless. There is love and survival and humor.
I read this book for the first time about 2 years ago and was only
too glad to read it again, and will read it again and again in the
future for sure.
