The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games trilogy book 1) by Suzanne Collins

At some point in the future government has a tight control over the country. People are trapped in districts and must take part in a yearly even called The Hunger Games. A game where 2 children from each of 12 districts are placed in an arena, and before camera that broadcast the event live to the districts and the capital, must fight to the death.

The Hunger Games is well written and extremely chilling. The story centers around a young girl from the 12th district named Katniss. Suzanne Collins spins a tale so violent and crazy that the scariest part of it is how easy it is to imagine this actually happening.

This is my second time reading it and has become a book I will reread many more times.

(read for this review May 2011)
